Java is like an "operating system inside your operating system", allowing Musilogic, Inc. to design software with the confidence that it will function across a wide range of differing computer systems across the globe. Furthermore, since Java has adopted an extremely high security policy, Java applications will not, if used normally, introduce malicious software on the client's computer.
One of the most exciting feature offered by Java is the Applet capability, allowing complex programs to be run directly in the user's browser, with no need
for the application software to be installed on the user's computer. This also ensures that a user is always using the most recent version of an application, since it is always requested from the server "as needed".
You must install Java 7 before you can install and run applications such as HarmonyPlayer, HarmonyScore and HarmonyBuilder.

Audio Implementation
One of the essential components of music editing applications is the General Midi soundbank. Without this file, the editor will produce no sound! However, the Java installation does not download the soundbank by default, so it will be necessary to do so separately, by by clicking on the button below.

Because of Java's high security policy, you will have to actively allow the soundbank file to be written to your hard drive. This is done by accepting a Security Warning, by clicking on the "Run" button when the following message appears. Notice that the publisher is Musilogic, Inc., and therefore can be trusted!
